Learn How We Can Reform Capitalism So It Works For Everyone!

  • US billionaires’ wealth grew by $845 billion during the first six months of the pandemic.

  • Meanwhile, everyday Americans are left to fend for themselves.

  • Millions of Americans and people around the world are oppressed.

  • We can--we must--reform society so that every sector works for everyone.

This book builds on the Nurture Effect to describe how we can achieve more nurturing societies.  It explains how advocacy for free market economics over the past fifty years took us to where we didn’t want to go.  Economic inequality has soared, millions of families are impoverished and racism rather than declining after the 1960s civil rights revolution has grown. Meanwhile, our corporations are out of control and climate catastrophe confronts us.

The book presents a clear and actionable plan for how we can reform every sector of society so that harmful norms, behaviors, and practices are diminished and practices that support everyone’s wellbeing are steadily advanced.

Hi there – I just finished your book and I am speechless.  Tears were streaming down my face at many points.    What you have accomplished with this is a profound contribution to humanity and provides a solution to moving forward that combines personal transformation with actual committed actions that can be taken at every level in society.  Nothing I have read in my lifetime accomplishes what you have with this book.   I am amazed.  Every human needs to read this book.  I can’t wait to write a review for this on Amazon and tell everyone I know about it.  Thank you for the opportunity to read it.  It is a life-changing read and provides such comfort during this time of uncertainty and disillusionment. You are a hero.

With admiration,

Learn how you can help create a better world.

This book is about how we can create a movement. Nearly all problems of human behavior stem from our failure to ensure that people live in environments that nurture their well-being. I am confident that, if we marshal the evidence for nurturing environments and use the advocacy techniques that worked so well for the tobacco control movement, we can truly transform society. Not only will we have smoke-free gatherings, but we will also have communities that see to the well-being of every member. We will have less crime, mental illness, drug abuse, divorce, academic failure, and poverty.

The Nurture Effect tells what we have learned in the past fifty years about what human beings need to thrive.  It describes family, school, clinical, and community interventions that make environments more nurturing. It is a comprehensive yet readable account of how we can create societies that ensure that just about every person arrives at adulthood with the skills, interests, values, and health habits they need to lead a productive life in caring relationships with other people.
